On 28th March 2014, Silvia published her first book of prose and poetry, “Bouquet of Rain”.

The book’s foreword by Richard Rudd, an award winning and celebrated English poet who is also the author of “the Gene Keys” best describes Silvia’s book :

"This book of simple poems sings with the gentle timbre of mortality. Silvia has captured the gentle, quivering spirit of a human life well lived-in. Her trials, her plunges, her swells, her pain, her ecstasy - all speak of a fierce commitment to living an authentic life. In this age of instant answers and complexity, the voice that is so often missing is the voice of the heart. In these clear and almost bell-like poems, Silvia's heart peals out its deep Truth. This is a journey through the heart of a lover, a mother, a daughter and a sage. Each poem calls to us like a yoga pose - an asana - and as we feel our way deeper into the words, so we find our own thread through the journey. This is the beauty of poetry that is written simply, with great purity of spirit. Whoever and wherever you are, may these heart-words from Silvia be a portal to your own heart, and may you recognize in her honesty the capacity to live and love as deeply as she has”.

Message from Silvia: "Bouquet of Rain" takes you through the powerful cleansing and renewal of soul, if we allow ourselves the freedom and courage to go deep within our emotions, which will give us the mental clarity and spiritual truth . Most if not all of us, are uncomfortable in facing our demons and our truths. And sometimes, all it takes is for someone to find that courage to raise a hand and speak up, and every one will listen and slowly nod their heads in agreements as the spoken truth resonates deep within. And Bouquet of Rain is that 'raised hand', that voice, which will hopefully, transforms all of us as we realized that we are never alone in our journeys. The choice is, and has always been ours, if we can, but recognize it.

Reviews from readers:

Silvia’s words resonated deeply with me, made me face and feel hidden emotions within. At first, they made me feel uncomfortable as, being a man, I was not comfortable with feelings, but I realised the poems described life itself. Silvia’s book could serve as a manual for everyone for the knocks in life that will surely come. A very well written series of modern poems that will be appreciated by everyone, not just by poetry lovers

I had hoped to be the first reviewer, but am rather pleased that I follow others whose comments echo mine; and remarkably they are all men. This clearly demonstrates the potency of Silvia Sim’s poems. To break through the facade of stoicism that almost all men create is an extraordinary achievement. Notwithstanding the reference to a male audience, Silvia’s work has an undoubted universal appeal. Bouquet of Rain is a forensic expose of the emotions most of us keep under wraps and were it not for Silvia’s courage, would never visit again. For someone in his twilight years however, it is heart-warming to be reminded of what I was, am and will continue to be. It is an aide memoire for my memories. Thank you for reminding me of “Me, Myself and I’, Silvia …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… By Rudi Sirr, Perth, Australia
Had I not seen the cover and the title, I would have thought that this was a book about an author and her ability to read minds – Silvia has the uncanny ability to write poems about people’s real life experiences – I so do look forward to her follow-up ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… By Paul Chan, KL, Malaysia
What a soulful book of poems! These are the universal stories of me, you and all of us - the frailty of being human and how by finding the light within we can triumph with the greatest love there is - Self.
Interestingly, this book also appealed to my daughter aged 4 who asked me to read it to her over several consecutive nights. Normally, what will take like eons to put her to sleep the gentle proses soothed her busy mind and she fell sound asleep like a cat on my lap.
Just wonderful. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… By Yvonne Li, Hong Kong
I have read through these poems several times, and get something different each time. I am not generally a fan of poetry but I find Silvia's poems very enjoyable to read and easy to understand on an emotional level. Her language and rhythm are beautiful, the poems thoughtful and self-reflective, but also hopeful. I highly recommend this book of poetry.

When I read each piece reveal, not just mere poetry but, a cultivation of words that draw a picture, each different to each reader, of individual stories that relate experiences, heartache, sadness, healing, happiness, learning and unfinished journeys. Each poem resonates individuality and consistency with what life is all about.
Personally, I found a very comfortable read that tugged at the heart strings, the mind and more importantly touching the depths within my soul which was all very new to me. The realization of how unique this book was, especially for me, shows that Silvia is not just a writer or a poet but a woman with a unique sense of life.
